Mathias and Jules (Julius) Broder run the company as the 2nd generation — since 2026 reinforced by Severin Broder on the management team. That marks the official start of the 3rd generation: modernising climate-friendly energy while staying 100 % a Swiss family business. What Anton founded in 1961 in Sargans is today a company with around 45 employees.

History
Six decades.
One handshake.
What started as a small drilling business in the Sarganserland is today one of the most experienced specialists in Switzerland — and still a family company.
- 1961
It all started in a garage
Anton Broder founds the company in the Sarganserland. From a garage — with a handshake, a plan, and the firm belief that oil, water and electricity would be the gold of the coming century.
- 1962
Entry into construction
One year after founding, Broder AG takes on general construction work. The first precast garages and the move into drainage technology soon follow.
- 1970
Conversion to a stock corporation
On 27 February 1970 the family business becomes a stock corporation. Structurally, everything stays as it was — the founder's handshake, now with a share register.
- pre-1980
Deep drilling and metalwork
Broder AG builds know-how in deep geological drilling and adds its own metalwork — the foundation for everything that later became geothermal and engineering.
- 1990s
First geothermal probe rigs
Entry into engineering and development of the first in-house geothermal probe rigs and mobile machines. Formally, this marks the start of the "renewable energy" business — as a Swiss pioneer.
- 1999
The second generation takes over
Mathias and Jules (Julius) Broder jointly take over management — sons of the founder and equal owners. Continuity in values, momentum in technology.
- 2008
Photovoltaic joins geothermal
We expand our offer to sales and installation of photovoltaic systems. Heat from the ground, solar power from the roof — both from one source, thought as a system.
- 2026
The 3rd generation begins
Severin Broder joins the management team — officially launching the 3rd generation. Focus: modernise climate-friendly energy for Switzerland without losing the family-business DNA.

Quality seal & responsibility
Around 45 employees, certified with the geothermal-probe quality seal. Four business areas — geothermal, connection pipes, precast, machine engineering — under one roof. One point of contact for planning, drilling, connection and machine.

We think in decades.
Not in quarters.
In 1961 sustainability was not yet a buzzword. When Anton Broder founded the company, it was about craftsmanship, commitment in a handshake, respect for the ground you work on.
Nothing has changed about that. What we put into the ground — our geothermal probes — last up to 80 years. What we put on the ground — our precast garages — lasts a lifetime. And our relationships with owners, architects and employees? Often even longer.
